Tax Payer Association Appeals Kane County Coal Plant

A California company wants to build an experimental coal-gasification plant in Kanab, UT

The company was given a conditional use permit last July, and the Tax Payer Association of Kane County has appealed the permit, stating that the Planning and Zoning Commission did not allow public input, and that the plant violates the commission's own land-use guidelines.
The association has problems with how the commission went about producing the permit, and having such a plant in the Kanab city limits.
The association is also worried about the air quality and its affect on tourism and local health.
