Record-Setting Cold Temperatures Coming To Utah Starting Tuesday

An important weather event is about to occur... A record setting cold storm system is expected to arrive late Monday and bring impacts to the state through Thursday morning. 

This is the first briefing on this upcoming storm system. The bottom line up front is:

  • Record setting cold temperatures, 30 degrees below average, arrive Tuesday and linger through Thursday morning
  • A hard freeze is possible for Dixie / St. George Tuesday night and Wednesday night
  • Accumulating mountain snow expected for northern Utah Tuesday morning
  • Light snow accumulations to valley floors in northern Utah Tuesday morning
  • Lake effect / enhanced snow possible for Salt Lake and Tooele Valleys Tuesday morning
  • Strong Washington County Canyon Winds expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning
  • Strong downslope/canyon winds possible for the Northern Wasatch Front Tuesday night
