Karina Andelin Brown Announces Lt. Gov. Run With Chris Peterson
Utah’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate Chris Peterson announced via Facebook video on Monday that Karina Andelin Brown will be his running mate in the 2020 election. Brown has made a name for herself as an advocate for healthcare, despite only being involved in public affairs for a few years. Brown was one of the five cosponsors for Proposition 3 on Medicaid expansion.
In the video, Brown said her work with healthcare, along with her advocacy for education in the state of Utah, have prepared her for the Lt. Gov. position.
Brown has said in the past she was a lifelong Republican before finding her values on education and healthcare aligned more with the Democratic Party in 2016. Two years later, she ran for state representative in Utah’s House District 5 against incumbent Rep. Casey Snider (R). Brown is also co-chair of the Cache County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Affairs committee, advocating for business in rural Utah.
She said her bi-partisan advocacy experience goes hand-in-hand with Peterson’s advocacy for consumers, and the two “are ready to fight for you.”
