Study Finds 1 In 3 COVID Patients Develop Neuropsychiatric Condition Within 6 Months

Dr. Jule Kiefer, a University of Utah doctor, is one of the many medical experts sharing the concerning news that about one-third of COVID-19 survivors suffer from neurological or psychiatric disorders. The study, conducted by the medical journal Lancet Psychiatry,  found one in three COVID-19 patients develop mood disorders, strokes or, in some cases, dementia. Lancet Psychiatry used data from millions of people to put the study together; and researchers found anxiety, mood and substance disorders to be the most common among patients.

Researchers also found the flu can cause people to develop similar symptoms. However, according to the study, COVID-19 increases people’s chances of suffering a neurological or mental condition by 44%.
