Utah Restaurant Raises Minimum Wage To $15 In Order To Attract Workers

A Salt Lake City restaurant raised its minimum wage to $15 an hour to attract more employees.

Dean Pierose describes his restaurant, Cucina, as “a little food and wine island up here in the Avenues.” He said he wanted to continue serving three meals a day, but like many businesses in the state was hard pressed to find workers.

Pierose said he went through the entire payroll and gave every employee a 12-25 percent increase in pay, and new workers are guaranteed to start at $15 an hour.
