Local Health Departments Gearing Up For Biden’s Vaccine Mandate

Employees and local health officials are trying to figure out exactly how to coordinate President Biden’s new vaccine mandate. A spokesperson says they have not yet received any guidance from the state or federal government regarding the president’s announcement Thursday.

There are more than 200 places set up in Salt Lake County where people can get a vaccine. Officials from the Salt Lake County Health Department say large employers should send staff who need to be vaccinated to the most convenient site. The health department will reportedly work with human resources, the district attorney, mayor and other leadership to determine next steps.

Private vendors, such as NOMI Health, will likely be called on to help vaccinate and test employers and their staff in Utah.
