The Impact Of COVID-19 On Utah Women And Work On Tuesday's Access Utah

Utah State University Jon M. Huntsman School of Business

Dr. Susan Madsen, Director of The Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) at Utah State University will join us on Tuesday’s Access Utah to talk about new research from UWLP into how the pandemic has affected women and work, specifically focusing on caregiver experiences.

Some findings of this research include: Working mothers faced unsustainable labor loads. Working mothers felt guilt as both a parent and employee. Parents faced childcare hurdles at a desperate time. Childcare providers described plummeting enrollment, increased safety protocols and costs, and a progressively unstable workforce. Many respondents faced the stressful reality of caring for older, at-risk adults such as their own parents, while older respondents described stepping in to care for their grandchildren.
