Taylor Swift Countersuing Utah Theme Park

According to a report from Rolling Stone, Taylor Swift’s rights management company, TAS, has filed a countersuit against the Evermore Utah theme park. The countersuit comes three weeks after the theme park’s own suit, which claimed Swift infringed on Evermore’s trademark with the release of her new album in December. TAS’ claim states Evermore park continuously ignored messages from BMI, the performance rights organization, and it used three Swift songs without the proper licensing.

The suit says Evermore “blatantly ignored the numerous notices from BMI and opted instead to continue to benefit from the free and unauthorized public performance” of Swift’s music.

The suit also states that Evermore park CEO Ken Bretschneider reached out to BMI only when he realized a countersuit from TAS was imminent.
