A love of the outdoors often begins close to home. For Robin Pendery, childhood adventures in Cache Valley sparked a life spent exploring some of the world's biggest mountains.

A variety of studies have shown that, by the second grade, about 75 percent of girls have already developed an implicit belief that science, math and engineering are subjects that belong more to boys.

Despite being the majority of USU students, women make up only one in three students in the College of Science. The university's Science Council is working on supporting these women.
