Utah To Experience Record Temperatures As Heat Wave Moves In

Starting Monday, heat warnings are being issued for the majority of Utah as a heat wave that’s expected to bring dangerous heat and record-high temperature moves into the state.According to KUTV, numerous records, including the all-time record for June for Salt Lake City, are expected to be broken this week. Northern Utah could see about a 5 degree temperature drop later this week, but Southern Utah is not expected to see any relief from the heat until at least June 20.

The UV index is also expected to be extremely high, making it possible for people to become sunburned after being outside for just 10 minutes. Wearing and reapplying sunscreen often is advised.

According to Be Ready Utah, some important ways to reduce the impact of the heat are to drink plenty of water, dress in lightweight clothing, eat well-balanced meals, stay inside for the warmest parts of the day, avoid strenuous work outside and check on family and friends who do not have air conditioning.
