New Program Focuses On Expanding Workforce Opportunities

Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson announced on Tuesday the official launch of the “Return Utah” program.

Return Utah is an initiative that aims to expand workforce opportunities in Utah for those re-entering the workforce after an extended absence of two or more years.

The first cohort of the new program is live and jobs are posted online. Applications will start being accepted Aug. 1 and the earliest expected start date is Sept. 7. The cohort plans to provide applicants with the experience, training, skills, and mentoring needed to return to the workforce.

Return Utah is composed of two possible tracks. A return-to work opportunity in state government and short-term training at Utah colleges and universities through the Learn and Work program.

Learn and Work in Utah provides tuition assistance to unemployed or under-employed individuals to  enroll in short-term training programs at Utah colleges and universities. The training is meant to prepare them for higher-paying and more tenable careers in various industries.
