According to a recent report, Utah is tied with Colorado as the 12th least-prepared state for hospital capacity following rising numbers of COVID-19 cases.
As part of the study, ICU units were analyzed across the country. Staffing shortages, the number of physicians, and how many beds each ICU contained were all taken into account.
The three states ranked as the least prepared were Idaho, Texas, and Georgia. The most prepared states were Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut.
In Utah, it was found that 69% of ICU beds were in use, which is 1.5 beds per every 1,000 people.
