New LDS temples include Heber Valley, reconstruction in Provo

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced it will build 13 new temples, including an additional one in Utah, and is planning to reconstruct the older of the two existing temples in Provo.

The newly announced temples bring the church’s worldwide total to 265 temples. Heber Valley’s temple will be Utah’s 28th.

Church President Russell M. Nelson added the old Provo Temple, which opened in 1972,  will be reconstructed after the Orem Temple is completed and dedicated. Construction on the temple in Orem began in September 2020.

Other newly announced temple locations include Idaho, Wyoming, Texas, Mexico, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Taiwan, Philippines, Liberia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Madagascar.
