County Clerks say ranked choice voting is working as planned

Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen says the early results from the ranked choice voting ballot counting software is working as expected. This is the first general election in multiple municipalities across Salt Lake County where ranked choice voting was utilized. Turn out is expected to land somewhere between 26-28%.Utah County Clerk Josh Daniels is also counting ranked choice ballots. He says there were no issues or surprises in the counting process and everything is “working well.” Turnout in Utah County was about 30%.

 

Davis County doesn’t have a ranked choice option this election cycle, but County Clerk Curtis Koch says everything is running smoothly and the turnout was about 33-35%.

 

All three counties will have another update on results on Thursday.
