Rocky Mountain Power Preparing For Possible Power Outages Along Wasatch Front

Rocky Mountain Power is warning that last week’s ‘brown snow’ weather event in parts of the Salt Lake Valley could cause power disturbances as rain and snowfall persist on Friday. The company said the Feb. 5 snowstorm was mixed with pollutants and dust that coated equipment on major power assets, which resulted in “arcing and sparking” and “power interruptions,” according to a press release.

RMP said it’s power-washing transmission line insulators via helicopter in an effort to minimize power interruptions.
