Some Of The Bills In Committee As The Utah Legislature Begins Its Last Week

The Utah Legislature will wrap up the 2021 session on Friday and according toHolly Richardson of Utah Policy, new bills were still being released on Friday. 

Some of the bills that were on the docket for the legislature as the last week of the session begins include S.B. 163, Campus Safety Amendments, which is being considered to prevent incidents like the murder of U of U student Lauren McClusky, and H.B. 278, which would begin the process of changing the name for Dixie State University. Both of these bills are to be heard in Senate committees on Monday. 

The House Government Operations committee is supposed to hear S.B. 195 on Monday as well, which would provide updates to the governor’s emergency powers as they relate to a long-term public health crisis. Updates on the status of these bills can be found on le.utah.gov.
