Utah Wildfires Still Burning, But Crews Hopeful

Authorities say two Utah wildfires are still burning south of Salt Lake City, but a favorable weather forecast should help firefighters get the upper hand.

U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Kathy Jo Pollock said Monday that evacuation orders remain in place for deer hunters and cabin owners near Strawberry Reservoir, about 80 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.

One fire has burned about 600 acres, and the other has torched 200 acres. Pollock says each fire has forced about 25 people to evacuate.

She says both are zero percent contained, but the outlook is good because winds are predicted to die down and the fires are burning light fuels like grass and brush.

Investigators are probing what caused the fires and if they are related.
