Why Toyota May Be Trying To Get The Camry On The 'Rudest Drivers' List

A red TRD Camry.

This is probably not the sound you think of when you hear the word “Camry.” Toyota loaned us one of their sedans that consistently makes top-ten lists for reliability. It also has a rep for being a little, a word that starts with “B” that rhymes with “loring.”

And with American buyers leaving cars for SUVS, and Toyota’s best seller is now the RAV4, they’re looking to add some excitement to the sedan by adding some of this.

It has 301 horsepower, about double the average car, a tuned suspension, throaty dual exhaust, and a red-trimmed interior that gets your pulse up just sitting in it.

I’m speculating that by adding all that they’d like a spot on a list that came out this week: Insurify’s Car Models with the Rudest Drivers. Besides the boxy Honda Element, they’re sporty cars like Audis and the Subaru WRX, with the top two spots held by BMWs.

The online insurance comparison site used application data that showed these cars roll more stops, fail to yield, pass where prohibited, street race, and your favorite, tailgate at about twice the national average.

So why do I think Toyota would want their car on the rude list? Because the cars on it are being passionately driven, albeit a little dangerously, and a car like the Camry could use a little danger in its reputation.
