According to a report from KUTV, unemployment claims remain high in Utah, but there has been an overall decrease in the need for assistance for nine consecutive weeks.Kevin Burt, director of the unemployment insurance division for the Utah Department of Workforce Services said a need for unemployment benefit remains. He said, however, the “need continues to decrease.”
About 4,700 new unemployment claims were filed the week of March 28-April 3, according to UDWS. A total of $18,148,431 of benefits were paid. Around 744,000 Americans applied for unemployment benefits the same week, which is a sign employers continue to cut jobs.
