Gov. Cox Addresses Shrinking Demand For COVID-19 Vaccines In Utah

In his weekly news conference Thursday, Gov. Cox said Utah is reaching a point where the supply of COVID-19 vaccines is beginning to outweigh demand. Dr. Angela Dunn said the nearly 2 million vaccinated people in the state were those most eager to get vaccinated, but now the state is seeing a drop off in demand for vaccine appointments. According to KUTV, Utah County has begun ordering about 1,000 fewer doses from the state. However, the demand is still high in Salt Lake County and the state is moving doses there so it can meet the demand.

Cox says Utah has “ample doses” for those who still want to be vaccinated. To those people, he said, “we’re waiting for you.”
