Salt Lake Council Votes To Overturn School Mask Order

The Salt Lake County Council voted 6-3 Thursday to overturn a school mask order issued earlier this week by the Department of Health Executive Director Doctor Angela Dunn.

On Tuesday, Dunn announced an “order of constraint” which would require students in grades kindergarten through six, the group unable to get the COVID-19 vaccine, to wear masks in school. Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson agreed with the decision but left it up to the council to determine whether this order would stand.

Shortly after the vote was overturned, Doctor Dunn came out with a statement thanking the council for their quick decision and said she’s committed to continuing to work with the council and other stakeholders to address the pandemic.
