The FDA Rejects Pfizer COVID Booster Shots

The Food and Drug Administration has voted to reject a plan to approve the Pfizer COVID-19 booster shots. The panel voted 16-2, with most members frustrated at the lack of evidence Pfizer provided to show the safety of the booster.

Pfizer said in a report released Wednesday by the FDA that booster shots were not only safe but also necessary to keep up the effectiveness of the vaccine for Americans who received the first two doses. The data claimed the booster restored effectiveness up to 95%.

President Biden already announced in August that vaccinated Americans should seek out a third dose eight months after their final shot, and he set a September 20th target date to distribute those doses.
