Hundreds of protesters gathered at the Utah State Capitol, Tuesday for a protest against three bills affecting transgender youth. The bills would restrict medical procedures for transgender youth and require parental consent for schools to recognize students as a different gender than was assigned at birth. One bill, which would have prohibited gender-affirming surgery for minors, failed to pass the committee with a 9-5 vote.
