In a press conference on Friday, Governor Gary Herbert called for a directive called “Stay Safe and Stay Home” for all of Utah. This directive will go into place this evening, while guidelines for businesses will start Monday.
The Governor said that this is a directive they expect all Utahns to do. The directive is not mandatory, but it has been put into place to help slow the spread of COVID-19. This initiative means that people of Utah should stay home as much as possible next two weeks. This directive is meant to be a baseline for Utahns, but local government or health departments can determine what will work best for individual communities. Businesses are also being asked to allow employees to telework wherever possible, and Utahns are urged to observe social distancing guidelines and proper hygiene when they absolutely must go into public. Herbert said the directive will be in place for two weeks and plans to reevaluate the situation in week.
