Man Killed Working To Reseed Brian Head Burn Area

Chris Holmes
Brian Head Fire 2017

A 58-year-old Alpine, Utah man was killed Saturday, while working to reseed the area burned by last summer’s Brian Head fire.

Crews have been working on the ground and from the air to reseed and mulch areas burned by 71-thousand acre blaze.  A helicopter pilot dropping straw mulch witnessed a ground crew member who had been struck by debris. The pilot contacted ground crews, who called 911 for assistance.

First responders found Bryan Burr deceased.  Those conducting the initial investigation determined he likely died as a result of blunt force trauma from falling debris during the airdrop.  The investigation was turned over to the National Transportation Safety Board, and is ongoing.
