In a video shared on Twitter Friday morning, Jon Huntsman Jr. announced Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi will be his running mate for Utah’s 2020 governor’s race.
Kaufusi, a Provo native, made history in 2017 when she became the city’s first female mayor. In a video introducing Huntsman’s running mate, Kaufusi discussed her priorities of education and reaching out to children and families who needed extra support.
Huntsman is the second gubernatorial candidate to announce a running mate. In January, Thomas Wright announced Congressman Rob Bishop was joining his ticket.
