Utah Planning To Open Vaccine Eligibility To Every Adult By April 1, Gov.’s Office Says

State officials are planning on opening COVID-19 vaccination eligibility to all adult residents by April 1, according to reports from KSL and Fox 13 on a statement made by Gov. Spencer Cox’s office on Tuesday night.Cox’s spokesperson Jennifer Napier-Pearce said the state expects to have administered 1.5 million first doses by April 10, the date the statewide mask mandate is expected to be lifted. She added that Cox worked with state lawmakers to push back the termination of the mandate in order to get as many people vaccinated as possible. She also noted the mandate will continue for schools and large gatherings and that businesses can still require face coverings.

 

Vaccine appointments are now open for individuals with certain qualifying health conditions and all Utahn’s over age 50. According to the Utah Department of Health, a total of 878,487 vaccines have been administered in the state as of Tuesday.
