Utah Valley University is joining other colleges in Utah in requiring students to get the COVID-19 vaccine. UVU officials announced Monday the mandate will take effect for the spring semester.UVU spokesperson Scott Trotter says they feel this is the right thing to do because they want the students to be able to “come to the university and thrive” in a safe way.
UVU is joining Utah State University, the University of Utah and Weber State University in mandating the vaccine. Trotter says the other mandates both in the state and around the country “definitely helped” UVU adopt the mandate.
Like other vaccine requirements, the one will come with possible exemptions, including religious and medical reasons.
