Incoming Gov. and Lt. Gov., Spencer Cox and Deidre Henerson, announced names for 19 cabinet and senior staff appointments on Monday, including nominating current Cache County Executive, Craig Buttars to be the commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Food.

Other appointments include Jon Pike, the mayor of St. George, as commissioner of the Utah Insurance Department and Mayor Jenney Rees of Cedar Hills as the executive director of the Department of Administrative Services.

The press release also announced that Rich Saunders, who has been interim executive director of the Department of Health since September, is now named as the permanent executive director.

According to the release, the list of appointees includes people from across the state of Utah, as part of Cox’s effort to better represent the state’s more rural communities.
