A Member Drive Special: Craig Jessop On Tuesday's Access Utah

music.usu.edu

Once again it's a Member Drive edition of the program. Our special guest for the hour is Craig Jessop, Music Director of the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra.

Previously in his career, Dr. Jessop was music director of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, and for many years he led musical groups in the U.S. Air Force. He is also a former Dean of the USU Caine College of the Arts. He’s currently Professor of Choral Conducting at USU. We’ll talk about conducting, the power of music, what makes a great singer, favorite people he has worked with - including Robert Shaw, John Rutter and Angela Lansbury - and memorable events from his career in music.

Tom Williams worked as a part-time UPR announcer for a few years and joined Utah Public Radio full-time in 1996. He is a proud graduate of Uintah High School in Vernal and Utah State University (B. A. in Liberal Arts and Master of Business Administration.) He grew up in a family that regularly discussed everything from opera to religion to politics. He is interested in just about everything and loves to engage people in conversation, so you could say he has found the perfect job as host “Access Utah.” He and his wife Becky, live in Logan.
