One Small Step: Finding Sympathy And Understanding After Bears Ears

Dani Hayes

Cindy Perkins and her family have lived for five generations near Blanding, a community agitated by the designation of the Bears Ears National Monument in 2016. Jeremy Lynch moved to Moab to work with the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance. They met halfway in Monticello.

This conversation was recorded by Utah Public Radio in partnership with StoryCorps as a part of their One Small Step project. One Small Step programming is also made possible by AARP Utah, a non-partisan, social change organization with membership helping people 50 and over improve their lives by providing material, programs, and advocacy on key issues.
