Art Nord Fire Over 50 % Contained

The containment of the Art Nord fire in Weber County increased to 55% according to Monday’s fire update from the Forest Service.

According to the update, fire resources made significant progress extinguishing hot spots that could reignite the wildfire. Crews will continue on Monday to put out smoking vegetation.

Old Snowbasin Road will continue to be closed. Closures will be assessed at the end of the day.

The fire was started on July 24 and was human caused. The Forest Service said this is a “great example” of how a spark can cause a fire that grows rapidly due to dry conditions and that anyone who starts a wildfire can be held responsible for the cost.
