The Brigham City Library Humanities Book Group will meet to discuss “Lassoing the Sun” by Mark Woods on Thursday, 5 Nov 2026 at 7 p.m. Lawrence Culver, PhD, Utah State University, will lead the discussion. Copies of the book may be picked up at the circulation desk of the Brigham City Library, 26 E. Forest Street, while supplies last. The discussion will take place live at the Brigham City Library. Furious Egyptian Theater in Ogden hosts the Ogden mountain Film Festival on Thursday, November 5th at 7:00 p.m. with films about outdoor recreation.

Get ready for a night that celebrates everything we love about Ogden’s outdoors. The inaugural Ogden Mountain Film Festival takes over the Peery’s Egyptian Theater on Thursday, November 5, 2026 with a lineup of short films about outdoor recreation and the landscapes around us, from hiking and trail running to biking, skiing, climbing, paddling, and more.

These films do more than showcase adventure. They remind us why it matters to move responsibly outside, follow trail etiquette, and practice Leave No Trace so these places remain protected for the next generation.

The Brigham City Museum of Arts is accepting entries into its upcoming photography exhibition entitled "Development"

Theme: “Development”

“Art calls for complete mastery of techniques, developed by reflection within the soul.”

This open competition invites photographers to explore the various interpretations of the theme “Development.” Development is a process, and it is a skill to be nurtured. It may represent physical or digital techniques. It may be an exterior force or an internal reflection on where we have been, where we are, or where we are going. For some, it may be a combination of these things. It is up to the artist to find the development within their craft, and share it with the world through their photography in this special exhibition.

The in-person session of the Annual Professional Snow and Avalanche Workshop will be held at the Eccles Center Park City on Saturday November 7th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Join us for the 19th Annual Professional Snow and Avalanche Workshop (PROSAW), where Utah’s avalanche community teams up with snow professionals from around the west to share avalanche knowledge. The goal of the PROSAW is to provide continuing education for avalanche workers across the country by sharing case studies and stories from different operations in different snow climates with information to help them in their day to day jobs. The workshop will follow the spirit of the International Snow Science Workshop of merging theory and practice. Presenters will include patrollers, backcountry guides and forecasters, highway forecasters, SAR personnel, snow scientists, researchers, and more. Presentations will be followed by Q & A.

PROSAW is an all-day, two-part workshop; everyone is invited to join for both sessions on November 7th. The morning is dedicated to Utah-specific presentations, while the afternoon addresses stories and lessons learned nationwide.
