On August 26th, 1920, the Nineteenth Amendment was passed. Women were no longer barred from voting because of gender. Today on Access Utah, we’ll preview an event happening tomorrow celebrating this anniversary and honoring the people, past and present, who fight for voting rights.
Our guests are Whitney Lee, an Autistic Disability Rights and Mental Health Advocate, and Alina Begay, Program Coordinator for Indigenous Student Programs for USU’s Inclusion Center. The event is hosted by Cache Celebration of Women’s Suffrage 2020, and begins at 6:30 tomorrow night on the Historic Cache County Courthouse steps. We’ll talk about this historic milestone for Women’s Equality Day and discuss the ongoing fight for voting rights.
