The Brigham City Library Humanities Book Group will meet to discuss “The Wild Trees” by Richard Preston on Thursday, 1 Oct 2026 at 7 p.m. Kerri Clement, PhD, Weber State University, will lead the discussion. Copies of the book may be picked up at the circulation desk of the Brigham City Library, 26 E. Forest Street, while supplies last. The discussion will take place live at the Brigham City Library. In honor of America's 250th anniversary, the combined USU Choirs present an evening of American music by American composers with American vibes on Thursday October 1st at 7:30 p.m. in the Daines concert Hall on the USU campus in Logan. The concert will feature early American ballads, folk songs, spirituals, contemporary works, cowboy songs, pop music AND a tribute to Route 66 on its 100th anniversary.

Luminous Ecologies by Meredith Connelly will transform the plaza into an immersive environment of light, movement, and interconnected life systems. Featuring the illuminated installations Water, Mushrooms, and Snails, the exhibition explores ecology, mythology, and the delicate relationships that sustain the natural world.

Through sculptural forms and shifting light, Connelly invites viewers to reflect on water as a life-giving force, the hidden intelligence of fungi, and the quiet organisms that maintain ecological balance all around us.

Dumke Arts Plaza is open to the public 24/7.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents "Something Rotten!" playing on Mondays and Thursdays at 8:00 p.m., and Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2:00 p.m in August, September, and October in the Randall L. Jones Theatre in Cedar City.

Something Rotten! is a hilarious, high-energy musical that reimagines Shakespeare’s world with a modern twist. Set in the Renaissance, it follows struggling playwrights Nick and Nigel Bottom, who try to outshine wildly popular William Shakespeare by creating the world’s first musical. Packed with show-stopping numbers, outrageous comedy, and clever nods to Broadway and the Bard, Something Rotten! is a joyful celebration of creativity, ambition, and the absurdity of the theatre world.

The Kaysville scarecrow walk is September 26th through October 4th.

The Scarecrow Walk is going to kick off fall with a fun, family-friendly stroll through the USU Botanical Center! Each year, they partner with local businesses, organizations, and individuals to bring you a display of scarecrows hidden along their scenic paths. Visitors can witness the vibrant autumn colors in the Varga Arboretum and celebrate the harvest season in their demonstration gardens. Scarecrow Walk starts Saturday morning with the 3rd Annual Scarecrow 5K, hosted by the Farmington Rotary Club, at 9 AM. The official festivities, and scarecrow voting, begin at 10 AM! From September 26th to October 4th, this takes place at 80 E 725 S Kaysville at USU Botanical Center.

This exhibition runs Sept. 8-Oct. 2 in the Tippetts & Eccles Galleries. The galleries are open M–F from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Utah would like to invite the public to join the Warm Welcome Winter Clothing Drive through October 17th. Volunteer opportunities are available. Donations can be shipped or dropped off to the office in West Valley City.

By donating clean, new or like-new winter clothing, you are supporting newly arrived refugee families as they work hard to achieve self-sufficiency in their new home.

We will be accepting winter clothing donations such as
- Coats and jackets
- Winter boots
- Hats
- Waterproof gloves

Donations are accepted from September 1 through October 16. Items must be in new or like-new condition. We can accept all sizes, but our highest need for coats and jackets is adult sizes. We may also accept other items, like scarves, wool socks, and store gift cards.

You can order donations to ship directly to us, or sign up to drop them off at our office in West Valley City. Our staff members can offer you a tax-deductible donation receipt upon request.

You can also help out by volunteering during our distribution weekend! Volunteers are needed to sort and set up donations, help our clients shop for items, and clean up after the drive is over. Volunteer opportunities are available October 15, 16, and 17.

The public is invited to the Powder Art Foundation Fall Open House on Friday October 2, 11:00am–3:00pm, a fall gathering bringing together monumental art, live music, scenic chairlift rides, and programming for all ages.

What to Expect:

New Art Installations & Hiking Trails: New monumental sculptures wait to be discovered throughout our art trails. The path traverses mountain terrain, so proper hiking footwear is recommended. Complimentary shuttle service to select artworks will be provided.

Scenic Lift Rides: The Hidden Lake Lift will spin off-season for one day only, with complimentary rides for all registered attendees.

Arts Programming: Free, hands-on art activities available for all ages, inspired by the landscape, presented by Ogden Contemporary Arts.

Live Music & Food: Live acoustic music throughout the afternoon. Lunch is available for purchase, or guests are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy along the trail.

Utah State University hosts a biology seminar series with a different speaker each Friday at 11:30 in the Life Sciences building room 207 through December 4th.

Different weekly speakers offer presentations on topics related to biology.
