Brad Ryan will speak about his memoir "A Journey of Healing, One National Park at a Time" on Thursday August 27th at the Moab Information Center starting at 6:00 p.m.

In this inspiring talk, veterinarian and author Brad Ryan shares the extraordinary, history-making journey behind his memoir, Grandma Joy and Me: A Journey of Healing, One National Park at a Time. What began as a simple trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park after nearly a decade of estrangement became a seven-and-a-half-year adventure to visit all 63 U.S. national parks with his grandmother, Joy Ryan—better known as Grandma Joy.

Through powerful storytelling, Brad explores how America’s public lands can serve as a catalyst for healing, helping individuals navigate mental health struggles, repair fractured family relationships, and rediscover a sense of purpose and belonging. Their journey challenges conventional ideas about aging and adventure, highlighting the vitality, wisdom, and resilience of older adults.

At a time of growing loneliness and division, this talk is a call to reconnect—with nature, with one another, and across generations.

The bear riverland conservancy at Stokes nature Center are hosting a volunteer appreciation celebration with music from White Pine Lonesome on Thursday August 7th at 6:00 p.m. in Mendon. Space is limited and reservations are required.

On August 27, 2026, the Bear River Land Conservancy and Stokes Nature Center are joining forces for the Mendon BBQ and Volunteer Appreciation Party. This isn’t just a celebration; it’s a tribute to the volunteers and supporters who keep our wild spaces wild and our community connected to the natural world.

To keep the energy high, Logan’s own White Pine Lonesome will be providing the soundtrack. Known for their soulful blend of folk, bluegrass, and "whatever strikes their fancy," this quartet (Kelin Gibbons, Wade Evans, Rip Nolan, and Travis Taylor) is a local favorite that is guaranteed to bring the crowd to their feet.

Luminous Ecologies by Meredith Connelly will transform the plaza into an immersive environment of light, movement, and interconnected life systems. Featuring the illuminated installations Water, Mushrooms, and Snails, the exhibition explores ecology, mythology, and the delicate relationships that sustain the natural world.

Through sculptural forms and shifting light, Connelly invites viewers to reflect on water as a life-giving force, the hidden intelligence of fungi, and the quiet organisms that maintain ecological balance all around us.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida playing on Mondays and Thurdays at 8:00 p.m. through September 3rd in the Engelstad Shakespeare Theater in Cedar City.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents "Something Rotten!" playing on Mondays and Thursdays at 8:00 p.m., and Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2:00 p.m in August, September, and October in the Randall L. Jones Theatre in Cedar City.

Something Rotten! is a hilarious, high-energy musical that reimagines Shakespeare’s world with a modern twist. Set in the Renaissance, it follows struggling playwrights Nick and Nigel Bottom, who try to outshine wildly popular William Shakespeare by creating the world’s first musical. Packed with show-stopping numbers, outrageous comedy, and clever nods to Broadway and the Bard, Something Rotten! is a joyful celebration of creativity, ambition, and the absurdity of the theatre world.
