Luminous Ecologies by Meredith Connelly will transform the plaza into an immersive environment of light, movement, and interconnected life systems. Featuring the illuminated installations Water, Mushrooms, and Snails, the exhibition explores ecology, mythology, and the delicate relationships that sustain the natural world.

Through sculptural forms and shifting light, Connelly invites viewers to reflect on water as a life-giving force, the hidden intelligence of fungi, and the quiet organisms that maintain ecological balance all around us.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents Mary Shelly's Frankenstein playing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays in September and October at the Anes Studio Theatre in Cedar City. Showtimes are at 8:00 p.m. with 2:00 p.m. matinees on Fridays.

This exhibition runs Sept. 8-Oct. 2 in the Tippetts & Eccles Galleries. The galleries are open M–F from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

The Utah Avalanche Center invites the public on September 10th to the 33rd Annual Backcountry Benefit at Black Diamond HQ. This annual fundraising party starts at 6:00 p.m. and includes food, drinks, prizes, and live music.

Build up your good karma for the Super El Niño with the Utah Avalanche Center on September 10th at the 33rd Annual Backcountry Benefit! This annual fundraising party is our chance to celebrate the people who make this community special and support the avalanche forecasting that keeps Utah’s mountains safer for everyone. Join us for an evening of food, drinks, live music, and incredible prizes, all in support of forecasting, awareness, and education!

The Backcountry Benefit started as a response to a tragic avalanche accident in 1993. That same year, the government cut funding to the avalanche center, and the community responded by showing up for the UAC. They rallied together to ensure lasting years of forecasting, awareness, and education. We've continued that tradition for 33 years now, and we can't wait to party with you again this year.

*All attendees under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and pets are not allowed in the venue.

Guests are invited to explore the night sky at Snowpine Lodge in Alta by moving between various telescopes, each focused on different celestial objects throughout the evening of September 10th. Astronomers will highlight multiple points of interest, and due to the variety of scopes and eyepieces, even viewing the same object through different instruments will offer a unique perspective. We strongly encourage and welcome all questions.

This is an all-ages event, and ladders will be provided to ensure smaller children can comfortably view through the telescopes.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Snowpine Lodge.

Please dress warmly for the evening as temperatures can be cold. We recommend wearing warm clothes, gloves, a hat, and bringing hand warmers.

Please note: This event is contingent upon favorable weather conditions. In the event of a cancellation, participants will be notified.

To preserve your night vision, please ensure your phones are turned off. It takes approximately 30 minutes for eyes to fully adapt to the dark after exposure to bright light. Once accustomed, your night vision will be significantly enhanced. Should you choose to bring a flashlight, only red-light flashlights are permissible, as red light does not impair night vision.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents "Something Rotten!" playing on Mondays and Thursdays at 8:00 p.m., and Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2:00 p.m in August, September, and October in the Randall L. Jones Theatre in Cedar City.

Something Rotten! is a hilarious, high-energy musical that reimagines Shakespeare’s world with a modern twist. Set in the Renaissance, it follows struggling playwrights Nick and Nigel Bottom, who try to outshine wildly popular William Shakespeare by creating the world’s first musical.
