Mask Mandates

On Monday, a federal judge from Florida voided the national mask mandate for airplanes and other forms of public transportation, but Salt Lake City International Airport is still encouraging travelers to wear them.

Alongside 20 other states, Utah has now joined a lawsuit seeking to end federal mandates requiring people to wear masks on public transportation.

Federal mask-wearing guidelines will be significantly loosened on Friday by the CDC and the Biden Administration, meaning that most Americans will no longer be required to wear face masks when indoors.

Following the mask mandates in Salt Lake and Summit counties being overturned, thousands of Utah students are headed back to classrooms on Monday.

The Utah House voted in favor of Senate Joint Resolution 3 on Friday, terminating mask mandates in Salt Lake and Summit counties. The vote was 45-29, and Governor Cox had no veto power because it was a joint resolution.

With the Utah legislature getting closer towards a resolution that could overturn mask mandates in Salt Lake and Summit counties, parents are starting to share their thoughts on what they believe the final verdict should be.
