Becky Chambers Presents "Thrive in Daunting Times Through Hopepunk Futures" on Thursday October 15th at 7:00 p.m. in Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake City.

Join two-time Hugo Award-winning Becky Chambers for a powerful discussion on thriving in scary times through radical hope, community, and imagined futures. Legendarium and Under the Umbrella celebrate the release of her new book, As You Wake, Break the Shell - a queer, hopepunk novel about surviving through found family and tenacious hope amidst environmental collapse. Becky Chambers is one of the most prominent and impactful science fiction authors of our time. This is her first visit to Salt Lake and first novel in four years, so don't miss this rare opportunity to hear her on tour!

The event is hosted in collaboration with the Queer Student Union of Utah and the University of Utah Gender Studies Program. Legendarium and Under the Umbrella are sponsoring heavily discounted admission for as many students, at the University of Utah and elsewhere, as possible.

ASL Interpreters will be available at the event.

Luminous Ecologies by Meredith Connelly will transform the plaza into an immersive environment of light, movement, and interconnected life systems. Featuring the illuminated installations Water, Mushrooms, and Snails, the exhibition explores ecology, mythology, and the delicate relationships that sustain the natural world.

Through sculptural forms and shifting light, Connelly invites viewers to reflect on water as a life-giving force, the hidden intelligence of fungi, and the quiet organisms that maintain ecological balance all around us.

Dumke Arts Plaza is open to the public 24/7.

An exhibition of the works of Jao Pina, Ron Linn, and Woody Shepherd runs Oct. 12–Nov. 13 in the Tippetts & Eccles Galleries in the Chase fine Arts Center on the USU campus in Logan The galleries are open M–F from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Utah would like to invite the public to join the Warm Welcome Winter Clothing Drive through October 17th. Volunteer opportunities are available. Donations can be shipped or dropped off to the office in West Valley City.

By donating clean, new or like-new winter clothing, you are supporting newly arrived refugee families as they work hard to achieve self-sufficiency in their new home.

We will be accepting winter clothing donations such as
- Coats and jackets
- Winter boots
- Hats
- Waterproof gloves

Donations are accepted from September 1 through October 16. Items must be in new or like-new condition. We can accept all sizes, but our highest need for coats and jackets is adult sizes. We may also accept other items, like scarves, wool socks, and store gift cards.

You can order donations to ship directly to us, or sign up to drop them off at our office in West Valley City. Our staff members can offer you a tax-deductible donation receipt upon request.

You can also help out by volunteering during our distribution weekend! Volunteers are needed to sort and set up donations, help our clients shop for items, and clean up after the drive is over. Volunteer opportunities are available October 15, 16, and 17.

The Brigham City Museum of Arts is accepting entries into its upcoming photography exhibition entitled "Development"

Theme: “Development”

“Art calls for complete mastery of techniques, developed by reflection within the soul.”
— Bruce Lee

This open competition invites photographers to explore the various interpretations of the theme “Development.” Development is a process, and it is a skill to be nurtured. It may represent physical or digital techniques. It may be an exterior force or an internal reflection on where we have been, where we are, or where we are going. For some, it may be a combination of these things. It is up to the artist to find the development within their craft, and share it with the world through their photography in this special exhibition.

Cornbelly's Fall Festival is open on September 21st through October 31st. It is located at 3003 N Thanksgiving Way, Lehi at Thanksgiving Point. They have a lot of fall events and attractions happening throughout the season. For example, to honor Dolly Parton, they are hosting Dolly Day on September 25th and will have storytelling and more! Cornbelly's also has Cow Cuddling, Pig Races and other fall events. On Mondays through Thursdays it's open 4:00PM-10:00PM, on Fridays and Saturdays it's open 10:00AM-11PM and it's closed on Sundays.

Glen Ray's Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch in Spanish Fork is open for the season with 3 corn mazes and 30+ other family activities.
