COVID-19 cases are rising in Northern Utah as the school year begins.

Shalayne Smith Needham: Utah offers farmers different kinds of weather conditions and growing seasons, depending on where you are in the state. While some farmers can get multiple harvests out of one crop, others are getting just one. Rick Heffelbower, a USU extension horticulture agent in Washington County explains how northern and southern Utah crop harvests could differ from each other.

Authorities say a northern Utah man was swindled out of $30,000 after allowing a scammer to access his computer remotely.

An individual claiming to represent a computer company called the 88-year-old man last week, saying the Oakley resident was owed a refund.

January’s Utah legislative session will be the last for one northern Utah lawmaker. Republican Representative Ed Redd of Logan has announced he will not be seeking a fourth term.

Redd began serving in the Utah House of Representatives in 2013 and represents the fourth district. He is a member of the Health Reform Task Force and of the House Health and Human Services Committee. His assignments as a lawmaker also include serving on the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee.

A dirty layer of winter air is hovering over many northern Utah cities as an inversion sets in that is expected to last for days, if not weeks.

National Weather Service meteorologist Pete Wilensky said Friday that a high-pressure system over much of the U.S. West is leading to the murky winter air that causes problems for people with asthma and other respiratory illnesses.

Cherry Peak Resort to Open This Winter

Managers of privately owned Cherry Peak Resort have announced on its Facebook page that it will open Dec. 21. 

 

 

Cherry Peak Resort's crew has been working to ensure the resort's vision becomes a reality. Over the last few months, they have added an additional lift, made snow, talked to investors and are finishing the construction of the lodge.
